Sunday Bak Kut Teh!
Piggy used to dislike BKT last time, but somehow she seems to like it now. Must be cause of my good influence :D
This was our second time going to Ng Ah Sio at Rangoon Road. Had a good experience the first time, so decided to come back for another round, and this time we brought BCX along. He who claims he enjoys peppery soup - can he handle what is said to be the most peppery BKT soup in Singapore? Read on to find out.
We came for dinner this time (as opposed to lunch the previous time). Strangely, it was alot less crowded during dinner. Wouldn't people prefer something hot and soupy for dinner rather than lunch, during the heat of the afternoon? Strange...
We ordered 3 spare & pork ribs combo soups, 1 you tiao, 1 tau kua pok, 1 xiao bai cai, 1 braised peanuts and 1 portion of braised duck.
The soup was as peppery and excellent as before (and comes with free refills to your heart's content)! However, disappointingly, BCX couldn't handle the pepperiness of the soup, despite the training in Korea!
The rest of the food was equally good! Special mention goes to the braised duck (S$10), which was fatty and tasty - will definitely order this when we come back! The tau kua pok (S$2) and vegetables (S$5) were good as well, especially for the price we paid.
Spare & pork ribs combo soup (S$7.50) - comes with 2 pork ribs and 1 spare ribs. The spare ribs was especially good - meat fell off the bone easily and was nice and tender.
Braised duck (S$10) - was really good in our opinion!
You tiao (S$2) - Piggy says this should be dipped in the soup, but I prefer eating it as it is. Wish it were more crispy though, but I guess if it's meant to be dipped in the soup, then it doesn't have to be crispy.
Xiao bai cai (S$5)- tasted fresh and good!
Tau kua pok (S$2) - Piggy and BCX both like this. Was good as well.
Braised peanuts (S$2) - Piggy always asks to order this. Last time we ordered we couldn't finish! This time we could though, with 3 of us.
Overall a satisfying dinner! Cost us $56 for 3 people.
