New Zealand Trip 2023 Day 2 Part 1 ~ Waiheke Island

Just back from Italy and already tired from work :( When is the next holiday!
****

Day 2 plan was to visit the wineries at Waiheke Island, a 50-minute ferry ride from Auckland! We set off to the ferry terminal which was quite near our hotel.

On board the ferry!

Ferry was rather smooth and we arrived at Waiheke shortly! Unfortunately, we were there on a Tue and the hop-on and off bus wasn't in operation due to the low season, so we had to rely on public buses and get the bus pass from Auckland CBD the day before. It was a bit of a hassle to get the bus pass as most places that sell were closed due to the public holiday but thankfully we managed to get it. Phew.

Took a short bus ride and alighted at the Oneroa Village bus stop.

Getting to the beach.

It was pretty windy and cloudy, so donned the jacket.

We left the beach to explore the shops near Oneroa.
Pretty popular cafe but under threat from the seagull lol.

Then we start the uphill walk towards our lunch spot.
Passing by Cable Bay vineward.

Then it started raining and we deployed our raincoat lol. The rain got heavier after we reached but we were too early for our reservation and the restaurant was not opened yet and they did not seat us at the bistro despite the rain -.-

The bistro with the fireplace.

Stayed in the cellar door while waiting for the rain to lighten.

When the rain got lighter, we came back out to explore.

Finally, it was almost 12pm and we headed into the restaurant for our first winery lunch this trip!

To be continued in the next post~
