Italy Trip 2024 Day 1 Part 2 ~ Piazza del Popolo, Terrazza del Pincio, Villa Borghese, Trevi Fountain, Il maestro del gelato, Pantheon, Piazza Navona

After lunch, we walked towards the Piazza del Popolo.

On the way up to Terrazza del Pincio. 

Some event at the park.

Recalled receiving a call about the tour cancellation at the Vatican at this point. Super last minute and we were pretty flustered on what we should do.

Villa Borghese

Heading back down.

The famous Trevi Fountain. Hella crowded, even the streets leading to the fountain were so crowded.

Looking at how cloudless/ sunny the sky was, I received news of the rooftop bar we initially booked that the outdoor area would be closed due to weather conditions. Hence, they offered to seat us indoors. However, the food was overpriced for the view, and dining indoors while paying for overpriced food didn't sit well with us, hence we canceled the reservation and looked for other dinner options last minute.

Have a gelato first to cool down. 

My usual flavour of Pistachio and Dark Chocolate/ Hazelnut Chocolate.

Continued exploring around the area.

The Pantheon. We didnt enter as the queue for the tickets were long.

Last min find for dinner due to rooftop bar cancellation

Had seasonal trout with potatoes.

And  a seafood pasta dish.

Ended the meal with a Pistachio Lava Cake, which unfortunately, has no pistachio taste but almond essence taste :( 

Complimentary petit fours.

 That's all for day 1 and we walked back to the hotel for our first night! Recalled struggling to sleep, partly due to jetlag but also the noises since the windows weren't soundproofed.
