Korea Trip Jun 2014 - Day 1

And tada! we're in Korea! :)

From the many travel blogs that I've read, many said that we need about an hour or more to clear the customs. Seems like if you're taking non-Korean airlines, you'll land at another terminal and will require to take skytrain to the main terminal to clear the customs. However, as we took Korean Air, the customs was on 50m away from the gate. We then made our way to take the airport train to Gimpo airport to catch our domestic flight to Jeju!

So, first, we need to get T-money from CU convenience store near the airport train and top-up. We top it up to 50,000krw as we'll be heading to Busan first before Seoul.

And of cos, not forgetting the Banana milk! Bro and I aint fans of banana but we find the banana milk acceptable. Actually he quite likes it haha.

Upon reaching Gimpo. Trying to act like a typical tourist taking photos with adverts hehe. But sadly, the contrast in lightings was too great that we cant be seen :/

We were quite early so we had light breakfast at Dunkin Donuts first. Forgot to take photos first, cos I dont have the habit to take photos of food before eating. But subsequently, we try to rmb taking before eating.

On board Korean Air to Jeju!

It was just slightly less than an hour flight. Small aircraft, but still we're served drinks on board. (Actually throughout this trip, the flight was rather enjoyable despite the 6.5 hours flight, we're constantly served food/ snacks and drinks) Maybe thats why I'm spoilt and dislike taking budget airlines.

Upon exiting Jeju Airport, we went to KT Khumho counter to check our car reservation and head to their office. Forgot to take photo of the car till the last day again haha. We then head to Hotel W to leave our luggage there.

First meal in Jeju! as we had Dunkin Donuts before our domestic flight, we had light lunch. This was like the only place opened in the morning near our hotel.

Emo face from my bro cos its ranked the 'worst' meal in Korea.

Menu at the eatery.

Ramyeon. We ordered a pancake too but forgot to take photo AGAIN. Tsk. Sadly, thats the only pancake we had throughout our 15 days trip. :(

So, after lunch, we head out. First to mysterious road. We drove past the up slope, but sadly, did not experience any mysterious phenomena. :( once we let go of the accelerator, the car rolled backwards down the slope. Furthermore, it was raining, so we did not get down to try to roll bottles up the slope. And bro needed the washroom badly, so we set off to the next destination.

Admission is free.

Tada!

Excited me. My favourite green tea!

Exploring the interior.

The observatory.

Back, going towards the cafe for green tea swiss roll.

Sadly, the green tea roll was out of stock :( But when we came back again, the green tea roll was available. But the queue was far too long. So we decided to give it a miss and try it some other time. And true enough, we saw quite a few O'sulloc outlets in Seoul and Busan. So we had soft serve and green tea citron tea instead. The prices for cafe food isn't cheap though Korea has a strong cafe culture.

Top view of the green tea field~

Then we went to walk around the surroundings.

Getting close to the green tea field!

We also went to the Innisfree house! Dint buy anything from there though.

Omo, snakes?!

 Running Man was here!

Next destination, Mount Sanbangsan & Yongmeori Beach!

Admission fees: 2500krw for both (iirc)

Top view of Yeongmeori Coast. From Mount Sanbangsan.

Exploring Mount Sanbangsan.

Weather was cooling but sunny! It was comfy but I think that's the most dangerous cos you dont realise you're getting sunburnt! I got darker (again) after the trip.

Stairs and stairs... The reason why though I ate alot during the trip, I did not put on weight haha.

Awesome view!

Then on the way down to Yongmeori Coast.

Cute cafe on the way to Yongmeori Coast.

Yongmeori Coast finally!

Getting down was tough as the steps are quite steep and I'm afraid of falling haha.

Really pretty and crystal clear waters.

Ahjummas selling live seafood. We dared not try though.

 Strange looking bug/ sea creature?

The walk around Yongmeori Coast was so long, I think it took us more than an hour. First half of the walk, we were mesmerized by the beauty of this natural formation of the rocks. But second half, we're like "ok, I think we should move faster" and just want to get out of the place haha. Cos the rock formations are more or less similar.

After Yongmeori Coast, we proceed to Oedolgae Rock, where Da Chang Jin was filmed. It was actually nth much besides this rock. And honestly speaking, I dont rmb this rock from the show. Watched it too long ago haha. From what I read, its the cliff that the Shang Gong jumped or pushed down from.

While others are busy taking photos of the rock, Bro was more interested in this.

Spotted a nice photo spot on the way back to the car park!

Then the final stop for the day, Cheongjiyeon falls!

Pretty flowers!

The restaurants near Cheongjiyeon falls are mainly seafood and doesnt suit Bro's taste. So we decided to have light  snacks first and head back to the hotel area for dinner. So we had, sausage & chicken skewers. Both 1500won each.

On the way back, we passes by the Saeyeongyo Bridge.

The drive back from Cheonjiyeon falls to the hotel was long... About 50 mins? We decided to settle our dinner at the BBQ restaurant just at the corner near our hotel. 2 portion of bbq meat (black pork five layered meat and samgyeopsal).

Our dinner cost 30,000 won. 2 portions but we're full with the free soup and side dishes. The owners are very friendly too! Helped us with the cooking and tried to communicate with us haha.

Lastly, Hotel W! The room was super big! Very new hotel and big TV. I think its about 55inches? It was showing WGM Global that day! But it was in Korean and without subs. sobs. I''ll definitely stay here again next time!

That's all for day 1! And I went without sleep that day from Fri 0630am till Sun 0100am. Cheers to the nice and comfy hotel!
