Bangkok trip Nov 2014 - Day 4

Ok so we had our half day tour on day 4 – includes the railway market and the floating market. I booked this tour on Groupon at $26 per pax. The schedule was to pick up at 7am and back at 1pm. I requested for a later pick up time so that we can have breakfast at the hotel first but was told that we may get caught in jam and miss the timing for the railway market. So we still woke up early to grab coffee and ready by 7! But luckily, breakfast was ready before 7! So we still had time to grab our toast n milk and coffee before 7 haha. But anw due to the jam, the van pick us up late.

My ootd! Face still bloated. ;(

Tired from waking up so early for the half day tour.

So just nice, we had a full breakfast before we continued with our half day tour. As the Railway market is about an hour drive away, we started dozing off in the van. Since we woke up early haha. Just nice to catch up on slp! After a short nap, we finally reached the Railway Market! We reached at about 9am. About 1.5hr drive from BKK.

Walking towards the market.
Entrance of the railway market.

It’s a long stretch of stalls! Selling groceries – seafood, veg etc. Kinda reminds me of the times when I go marketing with my mum and/ or granny. We walked all the way to the end before turning back to find a spot to watch the time when the train passes by.

Fish and banana at the same stall. Weird?

Kiap kiap!

I would have to say that we, the tourists have brought much inconvenience to the locals as there are so many of us who are actually not keen of buying anything but just want to watch the process of train pass. But we ended up blocking their way. Oh wells. Anw here’s the video of the train passing! The stalls will start moving in and once the train passed by, the stalls came out again. We’ve travelled all the way here to watch this haha.

Pose with the train!

Leaving railway market!

So after this train market, we proceed to the floating market! Another about 1 hour drive away!

Once we got out of the van.

So once we reach the floating market area, we went for the boat ride!

Before we board...

Boarded!

The chicken wings~

On the boat ride! It felt quite different from the float ride I had last time which was in 1998! We ate some chicken wings which was good! Though it doesn’t look that hygienic, none of us had bad stomach after that. (I think I have rly weak digestive systems but I nv had problems with street food when im overseas)

We had one boat to ourselves. The boat ride was about 30 mins long and we did not buy anything besides food. We got guava there too haha. Ok actually all the photos look pretty much the same haha.

Once the boat ride ended, we explored around the floating market area. And got more food. Haha. Spring roll and mango sticky rice! The mango sticky rice was only 80thb I think and is damn good!
N the super good mango sticky rice!

Then I saw ppl eating the coconut ice cream! I read so much about the coconut ice cream from CTC so I went around looking for coconut ice cream too haha. N we found after asking around!
It’s rly yummy! I saw the ice cream parlor at U TOWN selling coconut ice cream too. But I dint try cos bro and piggy were sick.

We walked around abit more and head back to the van to go back to siam area. But it started pouring rly heavily and bad traffic otw back. Lucky we were snoozing comfortably in the van. I requested to be dropped at MBK so that I don’t have to walk all the way there from hotel and the driver kindly agreed! Yay save us some energy haha.
Actually there’s nothing much at MBK. It used to be the hip place but nowadays nth much. But still we made it a point to visit. We walked around for a while before deciding to get Kyochon Chicken for late lunch! Being Korean piggies in BKK! Haha. Bro and I went to get Auntie Anne's while waiting for the food to be served. Since Korean food always takes a while to be served as they only cook upon ordering.

We ordered a 1 pax and 2 pax set. To save space for more food haha.
Potato wedges.

Salad.

Grilled Chicken Set.

Fried wings with 2 different sauces!

The fried wings are rly gd! And the sticky rice too! We tried it again in KL but no sticky rice. I believe it's only to suit Thai taste as I dint see it in Shanghai too.
The rice is nice! ^^

Bro hvg his chicken using gloves. He likes using plastic gloves. But the one at KL doesnt provide :(

I like how they provide plastic gloves and wet tissue as well as a tin bucket to throw the bones. So thoughtful and makes eating chicken not so messy! Yums.

We then shopped around MBK for a while. There were many shops selling imitation brand clothings. Tbh, there’s nth much to shop around MBK so we went to Swensen’s for ice cream! So much cheaper than in Singapore! I hardly eat at Swensen’s in Singapore though!

The 'why are you taking me with food again' look. Haha.

So after having our ice cream, we walked slowly towards Siam Square for our Sze Char dinner at Som Boon! Siam Sq one also has a Hello Kitty café! I’m not a fan of Hello Kitty so I’ve not been into one. And there’s a Holly’s coffee! We dint get to visit one in Korea throughout our trip though.
Hollys coffee reminds me of Korea.

Som Boon was hidden at a corner. And I couldn’t find it at first. So I asked the security guard and he led us all the way there!

The interior of the restaurant. The place is new and, hence the interior is new and classy! And spacious as well!

We ordered morning glory, our kang kong.

Curry crab! The reason why we were here. Haha.

Crab meat fried rice.

This is some prawn cake I think!

Bro's favourite, calamari. Or rather, one of the many Bro's favourites.

The same look again haha.

So we finally had our crab! Yums! Dinner was so good and affordable! I rmb it being around 1600thb! Which is only SGD64 for 4 of us! I had to pay about SGD60 recently for smth similar! (parents just mentioned a couple of days ago that the sze char at Som Boon is good. Haha. Not cheap as compared to other food there but good ambience!)

So after dinner, we slowly walked back towards our hotel. The walk back is rly long. Sobs. And we cut through Central World and I spotted Green tea flavoured donut at Krispy Crème! Bought one back to hotel haha. (I saw it was available to Changi airport too!) Oh my dear Matcha flavor. I'm always the only one who like matcha flavour though. They always comment that it is too bitter. :(

OTW back to hotel!

Still one more day of BKK travelogue! And I've been back from my yet another KL trip for more than a month already!

Got to be blogging more often!
