Well, throughout the 2 months in Shanghai, I spent most weekends exploring Shanghai alone. Except for the first week when Hui was around and when I visited Suzhou! But thankfully, I spent some time with my colleagues too who brought me around!
My Shanghai lunch buddies brought me to this hot pot restaurant that looks more like a florist than a hot pot restaurant. It was situated at some rly random place. I wouldn't have found it if I were alone!
I met my colleague at the interchange and she brought me there.
I think it was about 10ish. Sunny but cool. I miss the cooling weather, walking around with sweat! But minus the pollution.
The popular bakery! With many outlets. They're famous for their egg tarts! The Portuguese ones!
I forgot the name of the restaurant. But I rmb it was on the 3rd level. Second level restaurant was closed for renovation. This is the signage at the entrance!
The restaurant rly looks like a florist. And these are real flowers!
Rly pretty dining table! Looks like a cage! Haha. But cos we're a group of 3, they dint let us have the big table :(
The deco near the cashier.
Cosy corner but too small for 3 of us.
Our mushroom pot!
Looks spicy but actually just right!
Anw for the hot pot, they dont have sliced chicken or pork just meatballs. The only sliced meat they have is mutton. So I mainly just have balls and veg tofu and mushrooms. Oh and potato!
And after lunch, I head to People's Square to walk around abit before heading back!
There are many korean bakeries and cafes around and PB is always rather empty. Unlike the PB in SG at Wisma. Always crowded.
I had their Latte. Think it cost around 3+SGD?
The Matcha Pocky piggy got for me <3
And the following day, I had dinner date with Jenny! She brought me to a famous restaurant for Yun Nan food near Xin Tian Di! We took company bus from office and was a short distance from the restaurant. That being said, no more company bus next week :(
Street that looks pretty cos of the trees and empty street!
Exterior of the restaurant!
The couple beside are also Singaporeans I believe. From the Singlish that they speak haha.
Raspberry drink! Nice bottle haha.
Pretty Jenny!
Spicy mushrooms! Though it was just mushrooms, it was one of the more expensive dish we had! But it was so good!
Guo Qiao Mi Xian. It was my first time having that. Never tried the Hong Guo in SG. The broth is not bad and quite qing dan (though u can actually see the layer of oil in the soup haha). The Mi Xian looks similar to our thick bee hoon but of a slightly different texture that's harder and more chewy. The Laksa I had in Shanghai tasted more like Mi Xian than our Thick Bee Hoon.
Fried tofu with peanut shavings. Crispy but not too oily.
The fish that everyone recommend! It's fresh water fish but deep fried till golden brown and well marinated. Can't rly taste the muddy taste of fresh water fish and topped with sweet chilli sauce.
Spot the Grilled Pork Belly behind. Forgot to take individual photo with it :( It came with plum sauce which makes it different from other type of cuisine! Not bad.
We spotted the other table with the spring roll and asked for that. But it's actually not just spring roll but filled with prawns. Ordered that nonetheless.
So we had 6 dishes just for the 2 of us. Jenny said I rly can eat cos she cant even finish all these when she eat with her bf. Haha.
After dinner, we were so full, we walked to K11 nearby to digest our dinner a little. K11 is like a art space mall!
Most malls in Shanghai carries branded boutiques, much like our Ion and Paragon.
Artistic deco that are for sale too!
Rly artistic mall.
Now you know where to get your coffee fix!
Then we went up to the rooftop garden!
But we went back in in a while cos it's just too windy n cold outdoors haha.
Taking a rest, sitting on a beanbag haha.
There's an indoor garden where an organic restaurant plant their veg!
Oh my mushrooms!
A rly nice place to chill!
