JB day trip!

We took 2 days off in Aug to celebrate our belated Anniversary!

So on the first day of Aug, we went for a one day trip to JB!

We met around 9am at Kranji to take bus 170 into JB! Not much traffic on the way in and we reached JB pretty early at around 10!

So we left City Square to have a light dim sum breakfast first!

Kedai Makanan Hock Chiang Hin 福振兴餐室

A very traditional coffee shop, selling simple dim sum dishes.

Chicken Glutinous rice, Steamed beancurd roll, Siew mai, Char siew bao.

We had black tea to go with Dim Sum! Think we spent like RM9 here, which is like SGD3!

Fluffy fluffy char siew bun!

After our light breakfast, we took a short stroll to the old town area. Took a detour due to the road works there. But the weather was rather cooling and nice! Looks like going to rain but it dint haha.

JB Old Town!

Maco Vintage cafe

They have many different types of crepe cakes! And the cafe looks rly nice. A pity we dint get to try due to the limited space in our stomach ahah.

Some of the cafes which I saw on blogs before coming!

Quite a new and nice cafe! Too bad unable to capture a nice photo due to the cars blocking :(

Where we decided to have brunch! Haha. The Replacement Lodge and Kitchen.

I like white haha. Quite a lot of people on a Mon late morning!

Our brunch order! That's like SGD16! We had a light lunch cos of the dim sum which we had earlier on!

My second dose of coffee that day. I still prefer my regular Cappucino and Latte to flavoured coffee.

2 slices of egg soaked Brioche, caramelised banana, 2 slices of beef bacon and Vanilla ice cream.

BnB actually stands for Beef bacon and Banana! Never had beef bacon before. It tasted ok, better than turkey bacon but pork bacon is always my top top choice haha.

Perfect lazy brunch haha.

Churros!! With the Nutella sauce. Yums.

So much sauce that we couldn't finish! I want more of this :( Bring me there again hao ma!

After a nice brunch, it was slightly before 12 and I decided to queue for the Hiap Joo Banana cake!
Queued so long for it and bought back 30 slices back to SG. Rly no joke for such long queue on a Mon. Though omany are Sgean. Im not a fan of banana cake but mummy says can tell that it's special due to the banana and traditional furnace-baked kinda taste LOL.

Finally after we're done getting the banana cake, we had a short stroll back to City Square! It was about 1pm by then.

We explored around City Square and the new mall beside. So much changes to City Square since I last went! Think I last went with Piggy many years ago haha. But the mall beside it had nth much, most of the restaurants are similar to what City Square already had. Not a smart move.

We bought mainly food back from JB like the mochi biscuits and bread from the bakeries haha.

Decided to have and early dinner at Bornga so that we wont reach home too late!

Bornga!

We had this!

And the Galbi!

So much cheaper than in SG!

Even the servers and managers are Koreans.

The veg to wrap the BBQ meat.

They helped us to bbq the meat hehe.  First was the Galbi! Tasted quite similar to the Woo Sung Galbi we had and loved in Seoul!

The side dishes!

With Japchae haha.

Such a big portion!

The first batch of bbq Galbi.

The beef!

Tada!

And after we're done with dinner, we made our way back to SG! Think we left at about 6 plus 7 and there was a jam between the 2 causeway. Lesson learnt: to leave before 530pm next time!

That's all for our one day JB trip!
