Korea Trip June 2017 Day 11 Part 1 ~ Odusan Unification Observatory | 오두산 통일전망대

Day 11 is a long day so we started the day very early since we got to travel out of Seoul.

From Seoul Station, we took the Gyeongui Line and get off at Geumchon Station. Rly liked staying at Seoul Station as it saved us a lot of time transferring lines!

First time taking the Gyeongui Line and the entrance is actually very near our apartment. Just diagonally across!

At the platform waiting for the train.

There are fixed timing for the train, about 25 to 30 min intervals.

Vending machine at the platform. And yes, you can eat while travelling in Korea!

Train finally approaching~

Similar to the all stop Arex trains.

After a long ride, finally we arrived at Geum Chon.

Upon exiting the station, cross the road towards GS25.

And walk down the road to the bus stop!

Florist near the bus stop to pass time while waiting for bus 900.

We got on bus 900 and get off at Unification Hill Observatory Bus Stop, which is the final stop. From there, take the shuttle bus to Odusan Unification Observatory.

There's a timetable for the shuttle bus! But it was not accurate when we were there. The bus captain was resting but he informed us the departure time.

The shuttle bus.

The bus terminal and surroundings.

We went to visit the washroom while waiting haha. Quite nicely maintained though it's such a rural area!

I love visiting Korea cos their toilets are so clean, even public ones! Better maintained than some of SG neighbour heartland malls!

We had our breakfast while waiting for the bus too! Bought it at the ministop below our apartment.

My red bean paste with rice cake bun!

BCX and his Tuna Mayo Triangular Kimbap!

Mum and Dad had the premium one haha. Which has Tuna Mayo and Spam.

Cross section of my bun. I prefer the red bean with cream! But can't seem to find it anywhere else in SG besides PB. But so expensive :( though it's about the same price in Korea too.

Empty bus terminal~ *insert RM whoosh gust of wind sound effect*

Finally, we arrived! Shuttle bus timing at the bus stop. But again, not followed... -.-

Idk why they want to take photo with this information? Lol.

Entrance fees was 3000krw! Paid and off we went!

That's North Korea across the waters!

Think they were blasting some music over, not sure if it's from the South or North.

We spammed a lot of photos even before going into the building! And as usual, Daddy likes taking such photos -.- My butt also want to take. Luckily, my posture not that weird haha.

Map of North Korea where we can view from there. With some iconic buildings marked out.

Quite a cool posture haha.

Finally we entered the building. The security guard was very friendly! Informed us to take the lift up to the 3rd storey to watch a video before going to the observatory.
Think maybe cos this place is not a very common place to visit for the tourists. Most tourists join the JSA tours.

Hangeul.

Up at the 3rd floor, we watched a documentary on the separation of North and South and the history of the borders.

Snapped a few photos from inside the building.

And finally out in the observatory!

North Korea from a distance.

Lots of binoculars for us to view and free of charge! Guessed it's inclusive in the admission fees already. Most of the other visitors are local Ajumma and Ajussi.

Spamming photos there. Though we're actually looking at the same thing, but we spent quite some time there observing since it's like a once in a lifetime thing? Though we can always go back there haha.

And BCX found a way to capture the view through the binoculars!

Looks empty and barren. We spotted a few people walking around or farming, but that's about it. No high rise building.

Daddy becoming BCX most of the time cos BCX doesnt need his hoodie LOL.

After this, we headed indoors for some exhibition featuring history of the North and South Korea.

There were plans for KTX train all the way to Paris. Wonder how long it will take lol.

Hopes for reunification.

We finally left the building and took some more photos while waiting for the bus!

The road back down hill.

Pavilion!

Close up on the drum in the pavilion.

We took a lot of photos while waiting. But turned out that the guard only walkie the driver to come up when I asked him about the shuttle bus. But thankfully, it was just a short drive!

Next post will be on Provence Village!
