Switzerland Trip Dec 2016 Day 1 Part 2 ~ Jardin Anglais & Jet d'Eau, Old Town, Carouge Christmas Market

After taking the bus for a couple of stops, I finally arrived at Bel-Air where the main shopping streets and attractions are!

Shopping street, lined with luxurious boutiques.
But sadly, everything was closed. The supposed busiest street was lk dead town.

Was already lunchtime but almost everything else was closed except Starbucks so I settled my lunch there.
Ordered a Turkey wrap and Matcha Latte. I initially ordered a Grande but was given Vento cos the barista made a bigger cup! Which explained why I took so long to finish the drink haha.

Continued the walk after a quick lunch.

Portable toilet that looks so atas!

Crossed over to Jardin Anglais, one of the attractions in Geneva! Planted by the lake in 1854 to visually improve the wooden harbour, this was the first English-style park in Geneva.

Flower clock right at the entrance of the park!

Close up on the flower clock!

Swiss styled shopping street, taken from Jardin Anglais.

Ard Jardin Anglais!

Lake Geneva

The iconic Jet d'Eau!

Attempted selfie!

Spamming photos of Jet d'Eau and Rhone.

Trying to capture the Jet d'Eau in the background. Selfie is hard, esp with gloves and holding my Matcha Latte LOL!

There's water fountain like this everywhere!

Then I walked back to the main shopping street. Though everything were closed. :(

Franz Carl Weber, famous toy store in Switzerland!

Empty street.

Walking towards the Old Town!

Some restaurants were open on Sundays but not many.

Walking along the streets in Old Town.

That's the Swiss and Geneva flag. Apparently, each of the 26 cantons has their own flag.

St Pierre Cathedral.

Walking towards the Cathedral.

Interior of the Cathedral.

You can get a 360 view from the top of the clock tower by climbing up! There are 2 towers, North and South but the climb can be tough and it cost CHF5. Decided to be lazy and save money haha.

Left the Cathedral shortly and continue walking around the Old Town.

Visited Maison Travel as well.

The staff there were very friendly, asking where I was from and offered me pamphlets before starting the walk around the compound.

The back yard of Maison Travel.

I left shortly, cos I'm not so much of a culture person haha!

Old Arsenal. The famous cannons are a reminder of when Geneva had to defend itself against its neigbours.

Walked towards the Reformation Wall. It honours many of the main individuals, events, and documents of the Protestant Reformation by depicting them in statues and bas-reliefs.

Walking downhill.

Pretty happening part as compared to rest of Geneva! It's actually an ice skating rink which I visited during the team building event, so coincidental!

Walking back to the main shopping street.

Wanted to pass some time before heading to Christmas Market as it was still early.

Spotted Chinese restaurant there and snapped a photo of the menu!

Chio car? Wont have noticed it if not for the noise pollution LOL.

Looks like some demonstration? Even had police car following behind. But it was all in French, I cant understand a thing!

Nicely decorated Cartier boutique.

Flowers blooming even without having to take care.

Walked along the lake and there were many swan and ducklings!

Panoramic view~

This looks better with lights on, which I took a couple days after! Look out for my day 5 photos for comparison! Haha.

Jet d'Eau from a distance.

The tram.

Spotted Credit Suisse office and took some photos to share with Piggy ahah.

The ATM is located in the building.

Water fountain with portable water! Love it since I drink lots of water and it is readily available in Switzerland.

Thereafter, I made my way to Carouge Christmas Market!

Was still quite early and sun hasn't set. But was already bustling as compared to Bel Air area!

Lots of handicrafts and street food.

Walk around the streets that area too, finding dinner. Dint want to get street food and was looking for somewhere I can sit down to eat.

Spotted a very crowded bakery with lots of family dining there and settled my dinner there. Got a Curry Chicken  Sandwich for dinner and takeaway a Butter Croissant and Bircher Muesli! Got that in case I got hungry at night as it was still pretty early.

Explored around the Carouge area a little after dinner.

And I went back to hotel shortly after. Was a rather boring day haha! I seldom find traveling boring but perhaps cos I was alone and the streets were mostly empty!

Ok, that's all for day 1 in Geneva!
