New Zealand Trip 2022 Day 2 ~ Hanmer Springs Jetboat & Quad Bike, Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa, Sudima Kaikoura

Woke up slightly later on day 1 since we planned to just have a light breakfast in room and with turkey's sore throat, we were quite limited in our options. So just some hot drinks, yogurt, strawberries and nuts.

Photo right outside our room before we set off for the day.

The first activity of the day was the Jetboat & Quad Bike. We arrived at the Amuri Jet Adventures after a short drive. The weather was pretty chilly that day so we were advised to dress up to brave the cold.

The Waiau Uwha River.

Thereafter, we were driven to the mountain for the Jet Bike experience! We didn't really take many photos on that day unfortunately.
It was a pretty stressful experience for me since I've literally not driven anything before besides the bumper cars lol! So navigating through the roads on a Quad Bike with uneven ground was quite scary to be honest! Especially during the river crossing.

Stopped at the peak to take photos and shots using Insta360.

Thereafter, we were brought back to the station where we were given an hour break before the Jetboat. We didn't plan for this so we just got a quick bite at the cafe next door.

Recalled waiting quite long for the pie as we were almost going to be late. The pies were apparently frozen so needed quite some time to be heated up.

We then went back for the Jetboat ride. It was pretty fun and thankfully we managed to do this at Hanmer Springs since the one at Queenstown got cancelled :(

Getting to the Jetboat required us to walk down quite a steep slope and the whole Jetboating took about an hour. It was a pretty fun experience before walking back up the slope and getting to the next stop (that literally 'feeds' the whole town lol).

But before we head in, we had another quick bite, 2 more pies~

After our 3 pies, we went to the famous Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa. We got discounted tickets at 3pm so it worked out just nicely. We quickly entered and changed and proceed to dip in the various pools. We totally forgot about taking photos, unfortunately.

As the weather was still chilly, and with the clouds, it was really quite cold when we get out of the pool to hop on to another pool. So we just picked the warmest, but the warmest is the sulphur pools which had the characteristic smell...

We stayed shorter than we expected as the slides were closed for private event. As I started worrying about my period (well I was worried that I can't make it to the thermal pools) that it may coincide with our next hot tub appointment at Wanaka. Thankfully, it came right after I got changed and before we left. LUCKY ME.

So aftere we got changed and cleaned up since our shoes were muddy from the Quad Bike, we continued our way to Kaikoura.

Arriving at Kaikoura, we decided to have dinner at Slam Club.

Hot tea for turkey to sooth his throat.

Waited quite a while for the smoked meat platter. All pretty nice actually!

Thereafter, we headed to our hotel. Unfortunately there was some hiccups and our room was given away but the host has very kindly booked the new Sudima hotel for us so we were not stranded!

The newly renovated room. We were also given complimentary breakfast as our initial room had breakfast and we did not have plans to head out to find breakfast before the whale watching tour.
