New Zealand Trip 2023 Day 5 Part 2 ~ Karangahake, Wairere Falls, Matamata

At the entrance of the tunnel where it is still bright.



Felt like a really long walk lol.


Finally out.


As we werent sure how long the walks were and we didn't have much time left, we decided to just turn back by the same way, as the alternative route have been blocked.





Left for the next stop, Wairere Falls. 


We've planned to only go to the lower lookout as have read that the second half is technical.







It wasn't an easy climb.






Arrived at the lower lookout!




Sadly this was also where we lost the drone. Was pretty sad as we got really good shots here. :( 


Left with a heavy heart to Matamata for the night. 



Italian nom. And coincidentally, we saw this couple 3 more times after this lol. Once at Wire8 in Rotorua, once at Taupo near Huka Falls and after the Tonggariro Alpine Crossing hike lol.


2 house white to start. 


CAPESANTE 
pan-fried scallops, cauliflower purée, chilli, bacon, peas


Turkey really liked this and we had it again at Ohakune!
SPAGHETTI 
'gamberi' pan-fried prawns, garlic, chilli, lemon, olive oil


MANZO 
slow braised beef cheek, creamy potato mash, mushroom beef jus


PANNA COTTA 
Vanilla Panna Cotta, Pistachio Cream


On the way back to the car lol.


And we checked in late at night.

Got a big room to ourselves!
