New Zealand Trip 2022 Day 6 Part 1 ~ Cape Foulwind Walkway, Truman Track

The rainy day started with a hearty breakfast at Murchison Lodge. With muesli, cold cuts, Ovalmaltine, homemade scones.

And sunny side up with bacon!

When we checked out, it started drizzling and it wasn't a good sign. The rest of the day was just raining non-stop. :(

After driving for 1.5 hours, it was still raining, so we decided not to wait for the rain to stop and just brave the rain. I put on my poncho (since I already brought it with me, so why not), and managed to stay relatively dry. The only troublesome part was keeping it when getting back to the car.

While he decided to just use his jacket, which is less warm than mine.

The lighthouse.

Walked towards the opening where we could get more of the seaview.

And with the rain, we decided to walk back and drive down towards the other end of the walkway, nearer to where the seal colony is.

Still raining...

Abandoned my poncho and used the jacket instead lol.

The rain stopped for a little while.

Very fierce waves.

We left Cape Foulwind for our next stop, Truman Track. But before reaching, we dropped by a lookout (spot the lookout camera signage).

Irimahuwhero Lookout

And we left for Truman Track.
After parking our car, we spotted the Weka - the aggressive woodhen which we were warned off before leaving Murchison Lodge lol.

Truman Track.

We didn't bother going down to the beach since it was still raining and didn't want to get our shoes sandy/ muddy. We decided to continue our journey along the West Coast. To be continued!
