New Zealand Trip 2022 Day 7 Part 2 ~ Okarito Trig Walk - Wetland walk, Lake Mapourika, Scenic Hotel Franz Josef Glacier, Callery Gorge Walk, Peters Pool, Glacier View, Monsoon

Before we reached the Okarito Trig Walk, we stopped by some random spot for some photos.





Starting the Okarito Trig Walk. Quite a nice walk actually!























And we reached the peak!






After the walk, on the way down to Franz Josef, we stopped by Lake Mapourika for some photos. 






We decided to drop by to check on the heli hike and confirmed that it got cancelled due to the bad weather. Just look at the clouds :(




We booked another Heli Hike at Fox Josef hoping that the weather clears up/ got better there, fingers crossed. We then checked in at the hotel before going for other walks. 

The hotel was supposed to be one of the local brands but disappointingly old and not maintained. 







Went to the Callery Gorge Walk, a 1.5 hour return. 
I recalled it being quite abit of a walk in and iirc, turkey was on a call then so we were a little slow.










Finally seeing the Gorge lol.









Moved to another walk - Peters Pool and where the Glacier Walk was (since you can hardly see the glacier now).






Supposed to be much nicer, similar to the Zelenci Lake we saw in Slovenia. Unfortunately, the cloudy sky made it look uninteresting.

This was as far as we could go as the track got damaged. We couldn't even get a glimpse of the glacier due to the clouds :(









Went back to the town area to have a short walk.
Checked out the Rainforest Retreat.




And decided to have dinner at Monsoon! Turkey was attracted to the fireplace.



Cocktails.


Seafood Chowder, which was full of seafood. To the extend that I was looking for more chowder to go with the seafood.


Ribeye 300 gram, with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Turkey was keen to try their Beer Battered Fish & Chips - crispy beer-battered Hoki which was not bad!


 After dinner, we had a walk around the town and headed back to the hotel to rest for the night!
