New Zealand Trip 2023 Day 17 Part 2 ~ Kepler Track, The Bunker, The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp
Continuing from the last part, still captivated by the beauty of the great walk.
Finally entering the forest, which was a really long walk actually.
We arrived at Brod Bay early but there was no waiting area and filled with sandflies so we had to keep moving. We were pressured by the timing stated here and rushed down only to notice actually we didn't need that long and could have made it to the summit :(
Brod Bay that is filled with sandflies.
We boarded the water taxi back to our car and started the drive back towards Queenstown. Made a stop over for some photos.
Back at Queenstown.
Had dinner at The Bunker! We didn't managed to dine here last year as we didn't make advance booking so here we are again!
White wine~~
Pan seared Southern Ocean scallops, fried scampi, spiced
clam velouté, garlic pickled courgette, chickpea
Ora king salmon, celery glaze, wasabi,
blue swimmer crab, pea and pine nut salad
Bluff blue cod, deconstructed bouillabaisse sauce,
tua tua salad, saffron crème, sea lettuce
Canter Valley confit duck leg, crispy skin breast,
hazelnut, turnip, red cabbage and cognac.
Dark chocolate fondant, espresso, mandarin sorbet
Final photos of Queenstown before the drive to Glenorchy.
The drive to Glenorchy was a bit long and had to be careful of possums that jumped out in the dark. But we made it there safely, greeted by the starry night sky.
Our elaborate camping room but short of some amenities, like hairdryer -.-
Turkey enjoying the fireplace.
That's all for day 17 where we managed to clear 2 items from the year before - Kepler Track + The Bunker lol!
