Arriving at the Routeburn Flats Hut. Clearly not the hut we saw earlier lol.

After a short toilet break, we continued the hike.

Recalled struggling with my new TNF hiking boots, which was so painful at my ankle.

Some parts were a bit narrow.

After about an hour, we reached the Falls Hut!

Looks pretty impressive actually! Pretty clean and well kept!

This is the Routeburn Falls Lodge for those guided tours. Looks fancy and comfy.

Spent some time taking photos of the falls before heading back. The way back has no photos as I was really struggling with the pain.

Finally made it back to The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp, freshen up and ready for dinner!

We had lunch alone as the other group was late and we had much more food to ourselves lol.

Red curry kumara and beef iirc.

Brownie with ice cream to end the meal.

Since there's camp fire, we were offered huge marshmallows lol.

Just for the gram and I still don't like marshmallow lol.

Really impressed by how nicely furnished the Dome is. Spent some time exploring the done and the surrounding area. Made hot tea to bring to go with us. V clear sky and windy, I had to grab on to my hair lol. Thereafter, we drove to Wanaka Town Centre to walk around. It was still a weekend, and stark contrast to the bustling Queenstown. Got really windy so here's my beannie! Back at Kika again! Worthy to the 2 chefs hats. Kika Fried Chicken, tomato sugo, paprika and basil powder Charred asparagus, pumpkin seed butter, pinenut gremolata Wine and kombucha for me since I was starting to cough :( Cloudy Bay clams which were really good and meaty! Whole market trout. Enjoyed our meal a lot but as we started late at 8pm, we got back really late. We managed to start the fire in the room and it was really nice though it is electric. New Zealand Trip 2023 Day 17 Part 1 ~ Kepler Track, Luxmore Hut

Woke up to the call from Southern Helicopters that the weather isn't the best and they had to cancel the original trip. But they can offer to fly us straight up to Kepler at a later time slot. Since this is our second try, we decided to just go for it. After we confirmed the trip, we checked out and set off for breakfast. We finally made it to Miles Better Pies. Had 2 pies, Satay and Steak & mushrooms, with a shortbread. We parked along the lake front and took some photos on the way to the waiting area. We waited 2 hours here as they were waiting for the clouds to clear. But we were just waiting without knowing when exactly we could fly. Finally the heli is here! And I was assigned to the front seat, which I believe is by weight, since it is the only thing they asked for lol. The whole journey felt really smooth. Definitely not scary like how YJS and LKS made it to be lol. After a short flight, we arrived at the Luxmore Hut. Bye heli, thanks for saving us energy. Checked...

Since it was still early and we had lots of time, we decided to check out some short walks around Routeburn Track. Only to regret it later as we ended up taking the first part of the intended track for the next day and the drive was annoying with unpaved roads. We planned to take the Routeburn Nature Walk, but it actually is the same route as the start of the Routeburn Falls Hut route that we were about to do the following day. Not dressed to hike so just the nature walk which is flat. Really missed the clean air, clear water, awesome weather, and the lack of crowd lol. Was wondering what that is, if that is the Falls Hut but felt a little too near to the start of the trail. Decided to turn back here and continue the following day. Came back to the The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp for dinner. Having some drinks while waiting for dinner to be ready. Finally dinner is served! I think it was some Braised Beef Cheeks, with Eggplant Parmigiana, Roasted Veg...
